From alex.buckley at oracle.com Tue Sep 14 16:14:58 2010 From: alex.buckley at oracle.com (Alex Buckley) Date: Tue, 14 Sep 2010 13:14:58 -0700 Subject: [jsr294-modularity-eg] JSR 294 in Java SE 7/8 Message-ID: <4C8FD7C2.4070605@oracle.com> Experts, Oracle has published a proposal for JDK7 on the appropriate OpenJDK mailing list [1], copied on Mark Reinhold's blog [2]. Please note the following clause from the proposal: "As always, our intent is that JDK 7 will ship concurrently with a Java SE 7 JSR, and likewise for JDK 8 and Java SE 8". The proposal has two options. The favored option, "Plan B", is: - Modularity is not a theme of JDK7. The Umbrella JSR for Java SE 7 that Oracle would submit to the JCP SE/EE EC would not include JSR 294. - Modularity is a theme of JDK8. The Umbrella JSR for Java SE 8 that Oracle would submit to the JCP SE/EE EC may include JSR 294. Please direct comments on the scope and schedule of Java SE to your JCP SE/EE EC rep. Please direct comments on the scope and schedule of the JDK, including "Plan A" v. "Plan B", to the OpenJDK list or Mark's blog.
