Probably the best way to do this would be for someone to get a copy of
the sources that generated the specs, and then hack at it until it
passes a J2ME compiler (just stubbing out implementations), and
then claim that this IS the J2ME spec. We could go through
whatever process necessary to bless this (maybe even requiring
a new JSR but probably not). While there are a bunch of small
decisions to be made about how to back-translate 1.5 usages,
all that I know are the form: pick any one of the reasonable
options. And so all we need is for someone to do this.
(Hint: Bill -- I think it might be faster for you to do this than
to argue about it :-)
